Self-Publication has changed the way books are delivered and consumed.

It has put power in the hands of writers and has democratized the publishing industry.

That's why I am not going to give advice about getting an agent or interesting a publisher.
You're going to publish yourself. FOR FREE.

These days it’s possible to write and rewrite your novel and publish it in about three days.

That's about as level a playing field as it is possible to find. You can have the same power that an author with a traditional publisher would have and you have the complete say about everything having to do with your book.

Here's why I prefer CreateSpace and Kindle Direct Publishing.

Some say it’s a tough decision to publish exclusively with just one publisher. I say, "Amazon is king."

I have been writing books for 30 years and I started self-publishing in 2015 with a free verse poetry book, called Quietly, I Reply and my book Novel Secrets: How to Write a GOOD Self-Published Novel.

For the last few years, I have a great relationship with CreateSpace and Kindle Direct Publishing.

In fact, my next book in progress now is: EASY SELF-PUBLISHING FOR  FREE showing exactly how you can become a published author at no expense to you.

Plus it pays to self-publish with CreateSpace. Their royalty structure provides industry-leading economics, putting more in your pocket.

Just think, manufacturing and shipping is taken care of. Your book remains in-stock, without inventory, made on-demand when customers order. With an array of options, including our free Interior Reviewer and Cover Creator, together CreateSpace can create the book you've always wanted.

Now is the best time to write and self-publish your book for free.

When I began writing books, it was 2 years and 8 months before I saw my first mystery book, Kill Cue, in a bookstore. It took more than a year just from contract signing to publication.

Today, things happen more quickly because self-publishing is the name of the game. You don’t need traditional publishers anymore.

Over the last decade, Print on Demand has made it possible to scale down the cost of publishing. No more huge print runs for books that might sell and no more remainders when they didn’t. Best of all, the world has finally become comfortable with buying their books on the Internet. Amazon gave power to authors.

Today, many writers are publishing books on their own through Amazon’s CreateSpace and Kindle programs at little or no cost because they want a greater share of the pie than traditional publishers offer. In 1990, Bantam-Lynx gave me a 7% royalty on the cover price of my first books; today with the right pricing, I get 70% royalty on my published book.

Self-publishing finally gave authors complete control over their own books.

I'm writing my eleventh book this summer.

Writing and I have had a difficult relationship.

I had such great success years ago, with six novels (that sold a combined half-million copies) and four nonfiction books.

Finally, Lori and I decided to escape Florida and we settled in Reno NV and I discovered that the best job for me is to continue writing and publishing books through our imprint, PETERSEN PRESS.
